How to Overcome Self-Doubt with Self Love Intentions

  • Carol Robinson

Overcome self-doubt by setting self-love intentions. Learn how movement, mindfulness, and journaling can build confidence, trust, and emotional strength.

Self-doubt can feel like an invisible weight, quietly draining your confidence and energy. It’s the voice that questions your worth, undermines your progress, and makes you second-guess your instincts. While self-doubt is a normal part of the human experience, living in it long-term can hold you back from everything you desire — especially when it comes to caring for your body, showing up for your goals, and trusting your choices.

Danish Philosopher Søren Kierkegaard once said, “Doubt is thought’s despair.” And it’s true. When we don’t take action to shift that thought, it can spiral into emotional paralysis. Kierkegaard, a Danish philosopher known as the father of existentialism, believed that growth begins when we face uncertainty and choose to act. The real secret in how to overcome self-doubt isn’t perfection... It is consistency fuelled by loving action.

One of the most powerful ways to shift self-doubt is by moving your body regularly. Whether it’s a walk, a strength session, or a stretch to your favourite playlist, consistent physical movement builds confidence from the inside out. Each time you show up for yourself, you’re creating proof that you can be trusted. That builds a self-image rooted in capability, not comparison — and that’s the foundation of sustainable self-worth.

Alongside movement, self-love practices like journalling, mindfulness, and meditation support your emotional wellbeing. These tools offer mindfulness for self-doubt by helping you slow down, observe your thoughts without judgment, and reconnect with your inner truth. Even a 10-minute journaling practice can soften the noise of the inner critic and invite more compassion in.

Journaling to overcome negative thoughts is especially powerful. It helps you process emotion, challenge limiting beliefs, and shift your focus from what’s missing to what’s working. Over time, this creates a stronger emotional foundation built on self-awareness and self-trust.

Weekly reflection for personal growth adds another layer of inner strength. When you pause to acknowledge your wins — even the small ones — you reframe your story from “I’m not doing enough” to “I’m already progressing.”

This shift rewires your mindset and helps you stay grounded in your rhythm, even on messy or low-motivation days.

All of these consistent, meaningful actions are more than habits... they are Self Love Intentions. These are your daily reminders that say, I matter. I trust myself. I’m already becoming the woman I want to be. They don’t eliminate self-doubt entirely, but they calm it down. And more importantly, they build a life rooted in self-leadership, not fear.

What is Existentialism?

At its heart, existentialism is a philosophy that reminds us we are the authors of our own lives. It teaches that while life can feel uncertain, unclear, or overwhelming at times, we have the power to choose how we show up, how we respond, and what meaning we give to our experiences.

Rather than waiting for everything to be perfect or for someone else to guide the way, existentialism encourages us to take responsibility for our next step — gently, courageously, and in alignment with who we want to become. It’s not about having all the answers... it’s about choosing with intention, even in the unknown.

This is the essence of self-love: not waiting to be “ready,” but showing up for yourself with compassion, commitment, and care.

Ask yourself...

What’s one loving action I can take today to remind myself that I am capable, worthy, and already becoming the woman I want to be?
